Paint is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to transform a home. It can neutralise previous paint sins or be a way to have fun with colour.
Feature walls are a great way to create impact. At Black Hill, SA Shaynna’s using a dark charcoal paint from Taubmans called “Casino” to add drama to this unusual house.
It’s a converted church with soaring ceilings, so this feature wall will draw the eye down the length of the house.
But you don’t have to live in a church to have feature walls. Any large space with high ceilings is the perfect place to start, and you can use your feature wall to draw attention to anywhere you like.
When choosing the colour, Shaynna wanted it to tie in with the dark kitchen cabinetry and create a more seamless look. You can also use colour to contrast other feature pieces.
Shaynna added a feature wall in the same colour in the entry of the old church, which ties together the two ends of the house and creates a dramatic experience for visitors and the homeowners.
