How To Create Contrast In A Room

Even if your penchant for colour is neutral designer John Amabile from 60 Minute Makeover encourages the subtle use of contrast, by peppering his drawing room with black accessories and features.

Other ways you can create beautiful contrast in a room include:

- Creating focal points through designer features such as chandeliers.
- Black and white is the best example of contrast and using these colours in a room can create a very clean design that is full of drama and energy.
- Use décor in the room to maintain a single style through the use of a variety of elements such as colours, sizes, patterns, textures etc.
- Use complementary colours (colours that face opposite to one another in the spectrum) for the best contrasting results!

This is me too! I always have to double take things, walk past a few times and then I frantically move it as though “what what I thinking!” Loved this post. I just redecorated my bedroom but now I might be (slightly) doing the MEH! Ooopssy. Never mind…it’s what I love to do – decorate! http://oakfurniturefdf.co.uk/
