How To Create a Modern Boho Look in Your Home

Update traditional bohemian themes in your home with a hint of metallics and bright pops of colour.

Boho’s distinctive style embraces the concept of easy, simple living. It’s all about creating a comfortable, inviting sanctuary in your home and garden.

The founders of furniture store Langdon LTD, Phoebe and Delia Langdon, share their best tips for mastering the boho look in the 21st century.

Make it Shine

When paired with natural materials, metallics make an eye-catching statement. Keep your metallics to a minimum, but add subtle touches and small pieces - such as frames, light fittings or trimmings - to create interesting features in your room.

Down to Earth

The Boho look wouldn't be complete without some greenery. Whether it's real or fake (we won't tell!) add a cactus or succulent to round out your room. Place it in a large concrete pot or basket and, voila!

Colour Shock

Boho doesn't have to be about neutral shades. Shake it up with some electric stripes and splashes of colour - particularly playing with pastels, which are currently very popular. Start with a neutral, earthy based colour palette (we love mustard, mossy green and rust) and then add layers of colour with plants, wall art, throws and cushions.

Get Shaggy

You will often find a shagpile rug at the centre of any boho space, but you can also add some shaggy touches to cushions, throws or wall hangings. The texture adds warmth and intrigue to your room.
