A grand entrance never fails to impress.
The first thing you see when you enter a house is the foyer or entry, so if yours isn't exactly welcoming, here are some tips to create a grander entrance.
In Mt Macedon, we started by knocking out the wall which made the entry feel boxed in.
If you can’t remove walls, there are plenty of other tricks to provide a more open, lighter, brighter feel.
A good place to start is with new paint. It can just lift a whole room and take it from dark and dreary, to warm and welcoming.
We also changed out the old front door for a new one made of aluminium and glass, and because the house is in a bush fire zone, we had to make sure the door was fire rated.
Finally, dressing a foyer with mirrors is something else you can do to create the feeling of more space.
It keeps your eye line moving, which adds depth. Then all that's left to do is add the finishing touches like flowers!
