  • Bold can be beautiful without being garish. One of the most effective ways to bring out a home’s architectural features, is to be bold with the colour.  Period homes were often painted in deep and bold tones which helps bring out their details. Modern monochrome colours also work well to enhance period features such as moldings and fireplaces

  • Architectural elements can create continuity through a house if they are painted the same colour in every room. By using white and off white on the moldings windows and doors, the feel is contemporary, but it’s a traditional choice, true to this homes federation style.

  • There are no hard and fast rules when decorating period homes. Buts its always a good idea to give some thought to its original period features and colour schemes

A period home is the one place where you can get away with almost any colour scheme you like and create a classic look with a modern twist. Good luck!
