How to bring neutral colours to life in your home

Many people think of the words 'neutral colours' and their eyes glaze over. There’s actually a lot more to neutrals than you might think!

There are plenty of ways to Inject life into a neutral colour palette.

For a start, there are thousands of shades of white and beige to choose from. And depending on how you use them, you can create real impact with neutrals.

If you want a modern feel, go for a cool neutral, with grey or blue undertones.

But if you're after a soft, more traditional feel, opt for a warm neutral.

For example, 'Classified' from Taubmans will add a subtle depth to the space. Just wait till you see it in the finished room! I’m creating contrast by painting the fireplace in the same colour as the trims.

It’s called cotton ball, and it works particularly well with the off-white colour palate of the french provincial style i’m decorating with.

And there you have it - now a neutral fireplace really has impact.

Neutral walls also give you the perfect backdrop for any special feature pieces. That could be photographs, or artwork… anything that adds a touch of your own personality.
