Fixing a Noisy Room

Shannon Lush reveals how to quieten a noisy room.

1. Use bubble wrap on the windows to muffle noises from outside. The air pockets in the bubble wrap cushion and block sound by up to 50%.
2. Decorate the bubble wrap in colourful fish (which we cut out of plastic sheeting from Lincraft $15.99 per metre) and attach to the bubble wrap using glue.
3. To muffle the sound from hard timer floors, place a 4mm thick high density foam rubber spot under the furniture to lift it off the floor and stop echoing and reverberation. These are known as Crown High Density floor protection. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit under all sorts of furnishings. A pack of assorted sizes cost $10 at Lincraft.
