Everything You Need to Know Before Buying Your Perfect Sofa

We know purchasing a sofa is a bit of a big deal and it’s not something you want to be doing every other year. We have some top tips to help you find a sofa that fits your lifestyle.

When it comes to purchasing your sofa, the first thing you should know is that your options often extend beyond what you can see.

While most sofa retailers are limited for choice there are some who offer made-to-order options. This gives you the freedom to be able to design a suite that is perfect for your space.

For example, if you have your heart set on having modular or separate sofas, but you can't see them displayed in store, there is a high probability you will still be able to order what you are after. Don’t be shy to ask a friendly staff member about any potential configurations and covering options.

Choose coverings that suit your lifestyle

Light greys and creams are definitely on trend and look brilliant in most rooms. However, realistically in a household with children and pets it is not always ideal to have a light sofa. Look for 100 per cent polyester fabrics as the fibres don’t necessarily “catch” dirt and dust and are relatively easy to dry clean in the event of an little accident. Alternatively, consider reversing your design by using a dark colours on your sofa and dressing it with a light throw blanket, rug and cushions.

Always check your measurements

Always. You’ll be far more prepared if you know the exact measurements of your room.

There is an unlimited amount of layouts that you can choose from and luckily most will be on one handy configuration sheet. If you know your measurements but you aren’t sure what will best suit your home, ask a staff member to help assist you to design a lounge suite that will not only fit your space but work efficiently for you and your family.

Finally, ensure you have sufficient access to the property (and designated room) to avoid delivery issues, as most companies will not completely cover you if a sofa does not fit into your home!
