On 1 July, New South Wales and Queensland households will be struck with yet another electricity rate rise. For Queenslanders, this will add almost $100 extra to the average household bill, and for those in New South Wales, a whopping $316 more per year.
According to Australia’s number one energy broker EnergyWatch.com.au, consumers are fed up and should shop around for a more competitive electricity supplier to avoid paying more than they should be.
Founder, Ben Polis, says that many NSW and QLD residents have not moved from their default rates since deregulation, meaning most people are paying much more than they should be.
“Consumers need to shop around for a cheaper rate now, before winter heating costs and increased price bills hit towards the end of the year.” Polis says. By calling EnergyWatch.com.au, consumers can save as much as 10 per cent.”
Residents in Victoria experienced another rate rise on the 1 January 2011.
