Keeping kids entertained over the school holidays can be a daunting task. Instead of finding more craft ideas for them to do, why not get them to help you with your next DIY project?
Whether it's handing them a paintbrush to help finish off some renovations or helping to hang up artwork in a room, there's plenty they can assist with in the home.
When you're painting your interior a fresh colour it's easy to get swept up in feeling like it has to be absolutely perfect. Kids often like to get in on the fun, too, so put aside your perfectionist tendencies and hand them a brush.
Give them some painting tips, show them the correct technique for painting a wall and let them have a go at applying the first coat. It may not be perfect but you'll no doubt have a great time working together!
Hanging artwork around the home is easy when you have a little helper on hand. Ask your child to help select which pictures should go where, and get them to help you line it up to be straight and even on the wall.
You could even frame a picture or drawing your child has done and give it pride of place in their room or a study. Ask him or her where it should go and ask for advice on the style and colour of frame you should use.
Give your kids their own pots or sections of the garden to plant their favourite flowers in this summer. This is a great way to teach them about taking care of things, as you can encourage them to water and maintain their flora.
