We all dream of living in a very ordered, clutter-free home like you find in interiors magazines. But sadly, for most of us who live full and hectic lives, the reality couldn't be more different. Shannon helps professional mum Anna and son Azzam kick-start their good intentions and transform their living room.
Shannon believes that a cluttered room creates a cluttered mind but this isn't about getting rid of all of Anna's and Azzam's possessions. On the contrary, it's about paring back and only keeping the precious and sentimental items. Only then can you let go of all the junk.
With a small budget, Shannon has come up with a cunning and subtle plan that involves a fresh paint job and some new fabrics to dress the windows and sofas.
On the walls Shannon is using Dulux Pacific Pines, which is a very calming colour, and Dulux Santas Beard for the wood work. The two colours create an oasis in the living room.
A carefully-selected few pieces of original furniture come back into the room and Shannon only needs to introduce one new piece – a TV stand to replace the old one. With a bit of rearranging and considered placement to maximize on the effect, the room is really starting to come together. The old sofa is covered in a throw made up from some fabric chosen from Mokum Fabrics, and together with the new curtains and throw cushions, the room has been given a new lease of life.
