Cleaning with Wheat Bran

For centuries wheat bran was used to clean tapestries and embroideries. It’s a gentle but slightly abrasive and absorbent product which - when combined with white vinegar - makes a
fantastic cleaner for soft furnishings, sisal flooring, lamps and so on.

• To make a bran ball for cleaning: place 1 cup of bran into a clean bowl and add enough white vinegar in drops a bit at a time stirring until it clumps together with the consistency of brown sugar. Drop the mixture into some pantyhose and tie off the ends – then use it to wipe over soft furnishings and so on. It will last for years if you store it in a zip lock bag.
• Refresh it before use with a few more drops of vinegar.
