Clean Bath Stains

Shannon Lush shares how to remove stubborn water stains in your bath naturally.

Old stains can be shifted thanks to the use of denture tablets (available at pharmacies for about $16). Denture tablets are made from bicarb soda and citric acid and contain a mild bleach.
1. Position the tablets over the stain, add water and leave overnight.
2. The next day (when the stain has been softened), scrub it thoroughly using bicarb soda, vinegar and a good sturdy scrubbing brush.
Note: You can use this technique on ceramic, enamel and porcelain baths but not on plastic.

Shannon’s book Speed Cleaning suggests you fill the bath with water and add 1 pack of denture cleaner (either tablet or powder form) and leave overnight. Then wipe the surface with glycerine to seal it. If the marks have been made by metallic objects such as steel wool, clean by sprinkling bicarb on the mark and spray with vinegar. Scrub with a nylon scrubbing brush.
