As children grow older, so do their tastes. Changing up their bedding can be tricky, so we've outlined the top 10 trends for 2015 to help get you started.
1. Retro Renegade
There is no doubt we’re reversing back to retro again in 2015. Vintage concepts have been inspired by modern day twists. Nothing says vintage like high contrast colours and textiles.
The Scandinavian pure, pared back look is a favourite for the season. There is a strong focus on clean lines and expert craftsmanship that rely on light tones and subtly.
Simplicity and lightness are at the forefront of design in 2015, with natural and whitewash tones taking the lead. A neutral colour palette is the key to a great child’s room because you can subtly or dramatically change the room by adding pops of colour and experiment with playful accessories like bed linen, cushions and throws.
4. Love Your Layers
Whether it be a mixture of colours, textures or both, layers add dimension by experimenting with tone-on-tone, mix print, knit and weave. Start with a beautiful base and go OTT with throws and pillows which will add a punch of personality that you won’t get tired of!
5. Magic Metallic
A resurgence of metallic inspiration through the use of copper tones has made a comeback this year! Use simple bronze, silver or gold applications against bright white but watch out for different applications.
6. Punky Pop
This season kids will just run to bed. Be bold and brave when selecting beds for the kiddies room and make sleeping fun!
7. Highlighted Hues
For a subtle splash of colour that won’t overpower the space, balance orange, watermelon, tangerine or dove pink with timeless designs.
8. 4 Piece + 4 Post
Four Post Pillar beds have made a modern-day comeback this season. Minimalistic and clean the Four Post Bed is perfect by itself, or be bedroom- bold and add four of your favourites:
fairy lights, pillows, a blanket or drapes. 4-for-4!
9. Break the habit
2015 is a time to move away from matchy matchy! Be brave and mash earthy tones and textures with contemporary style and shades that aren’t sleepy!
10. Have fun
A room made with love will always be on trend. For those who are a little older, take the time to sit down with them to talk about their current interests, and design a room that inspires creativity! 2015 is all about being bright and happy, so fill the room with love and light.
