Casula house: Before and After

Take a closer look at the makeover of this hillside home in New South Wales.

This week’s house is in the Sydney suburb of Casula, near Liverpool. Homeowners Jeff and Janelle have lived in their two-story hillside home for the past 14 years and raised their two children there. Despite the large house and land size, Jeff and Janelle have not had any reasonable offers. For a start, the steep driveway and overgrown front garden are unwelcoming, and the house is a very dated 1970s blonde brick construction. But the deterrents don’t stop there…

At the back of the house, a single step from the sunroom puts you into the shallow end of the pool! The pool fence is not compliant, and the rest of the backyard is either overgrown or wasted space.

Stepping inside is like stepping into the 1970’s. Browns and greens dominate the interiors, complete with wood panelling in the sunroom. The bathrooms are in various states of disrepair, and the front balcony looks like it has weathered its fair share of storms.

Jeff and Janelle are now ready to move on from their family home, but with the house not gaining any attention after 14 months on the market, the couple know that drastic measures have to be taken.

I would not buy a house with all that ugly 70's slate.
