Bed & Breakfast Case Study

Generally we consider our homes to be private domains, a place you can escape to at the end of the day to lock out the outside world. But what happens when you turn your home into a place where you welcome the outside in, just like Ian and Anne did when they decided to turn their large home into a B&B.

The benefits of opening your doors to complete strangers is that you get to meet some really interesting people, people whose paths might not necessarily cross yours in life. Also the extra income allowed Ian and Anne to buy the place and pay the hefty mortgage.

As a visual artist, Anne has a passion for decorating and the guest house gives her a creative outlet and allows her to indulge in a profusion of looks and styles. The rooms have each been furnished from different periods, and Anne is a lover of 50’s & 60’s design, so those periods feature prominently. There’s the Aboriginalia Room, the Chinoiserie Room, and he Grandma Room which is more 1930’s in style.
