Progression. It's in our genes. Find out more about the innovative technology and leading design of the Audi range.
From the earliest days of Audi, one clearly defined philosophy has guided our automotive vision: Vorsprung durch Technik. This singular phrase, translated as progress through technology, has unified our passion to make cars that push the boundaries of what's possible. And that innate desire continues today.
Our progressive spirit is injected into everything we do, creating cars that unite innovative technology and leading design with a passion for luxury and individuality. Safety for instance, is not just a duty for us, but a constant challenge to our sense of responsibility. Designed to be as unique and sophisticated as our customers, the evolution of our cars has focused on an attention to detail that continually puts every Audi ahead of its time.
Technological developments such as quattro permanent all-wheel drive, Audi e-tron engineering and Audi ultra technology are all testament to this progression - and we're not stopping there. Rest assured that Audi will forever inch towards the impossible, continually taking automotive engineering and design a step further along the road to tomorrow.
Audi quattro® all-wheel drive.
First appearing in 1980, the Audi quattro® all-wheel drive system stunned the motoring world, dominating international motorsport and elevating passenger car safety and handling to unimaginable new levels. Today the legendary quattro all-wheel drive exists in more than 140 Audi models with progressive technology to grip the earth like never before.
Delivering exceptional traction, acceleration and handling, quattro intelligently distributes power between all four wheels according to road twists and turns. This same dynamic torque distribution enables optimum safety by automatically adjusting to changing surface conditions within a fraction of a second.
Green without compromise. Operating as a practical plug-in hybrid, the upcoming Audi A3 Sportback e-tron combines a 1.4 TFSI engine with an electric motor. The all-electric range travels up to 50km with zero local emissions, allowing for realistic emission free urban driving. For maximum performance, the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron can also run both power plants in tandem to produce an astonishing 150kW and 350 Nm of total system output. Put that together with a combined total range of up to 940 km, and you’ve got a car that literally changes the game.
It’s the same technology that’s help Audi win the famous Le Mans endurance race 3 years running since 2012, when e-tron was first introduced to the sport.
Arriving in Australia in 2015, Audi e-tron is a leading technology that will change the world, so you don’t have to.
To Audi, every detail counts. And it's this dedication to precision that leads the revolutionary efficiencies throughout every Audi model. Audi ultra is a pioneer in this technology, creating engines of lightweight construction to aerodynamics and reducing carbon dioxide emissions without impairing driver performance. It combines innovative materials, intelligent design principles and production; processes to use resources sparingly in an overall vehicle concept. Audi ultra measures have been implemented across the entire Audi model range.
Each lightweight component has an effect on other components, allowing their dimensions to be reduced as well. Lightweight chassis and lighter engines lead to secondary effects throughout Audi vehicles, allowing the weight of many parts of the exhaust system, suspension and interior to be reduced. The result of Audi ultra is a continuous development process towards less weight and greater efficiency.
The Audi range
No matter which model in the prestigious Audi range best suits your individual style, from the sporty and sophisticated Audi A1 Sportback to the power and passion of the iconic Audi R8, one quality remains a constant - progressive performance.
More than just a phrase, progressive performance is an obsession that lies at the very heart of the Audi brand. It's evident in technology that's both exhilarating and efficient; in design that's both aesthetic and functional; in quality that both luxurious and lasting. Audi continues to lead the way through technology, dramatically increasing power while reducing fuel consumption and overall emissions.
There's a reason why progression has kept us at the forefront of automotive development and performance for over 100 years - and that's because it's in our genes.
