6 Tips to Create a Royal Nursery on a Budget

Designing a nursery and don't know where to start? Follow these 6 tips to creating a decadent looking decor, without the royal-like price tag.

Interior Designer Pip Noble shares her expert tips on how to create a Royal Nursery Room on a budget.

1. Keep It Simple

A neutral colour palette is the key to a great child’s room. A range of whites and stone can provide a delicate base to start you off. Subtly or dramatically change the room by using cost-effective textures and playful decadence. Throw on a little royal sweetness with the uh-oh! Soft Indian Cotton Blankets which feature delicate artistic detail that will provide your princess with the perfect amount of royal charm.

2. Bonjour La-Mode

Yes, French provincial style is back in fashion. Its timeless elegance has a stylistic simplicity and will provide your little princess with an elegant bedroom. The Jemima Cot from Incy Interiors is a perfect example of this as it boasts a distressed antique white finish with soft gold patina for subtle opulence.

3. Romantic Royal Charm

Introduce old-world charm to the nursery room with the warmth of traditional old-school prints and characters. Welly’s Wonders is a new brand with charming romantic appeal that has encouraged our little ones to live in a world where imagination and adventure rule.  Collectables include a suite of A4 and A3 prints, baby and children’s clothing, accessories and artwork that enable our little ones to take a step back in time and enjoy a piece of this royal renaissance.

4. Decorative Dollies

Soft toys are sweet as they can completely change or add personality to a drab room. Handmade, knitted or felt creations bring a unique touch to each toy and add a little bit of personality. What’s more, colourful characters become cherished members of the family and can be passed down generations. A baby ballerina doll or crochet doll will add a little personality and help to dress up a bed, bookshelf or side table. Such a cuddly idea.

5. Simple Treasures

Whilst bubble-gum pinks and electric blues are favourable for many children’s nursery rooms, soft neutral tones layered with muted metallic will provide the perfect touch of glamour with maximum impact statement. To sparkle this season, add 2.5m of magic using Dusty Gold or Silver Stars Garlands to your child’s room.

6. Scripture Art

For those that just need a sign, art has never been so personal and affordable! Brainspiration, have created timeless and charming scripture art pieces which are born out of a desire to bring hope,  inspiration and the famous cities our cherubs will dream of.

Incy Interiors and SKEANIE & uh-oh! will be exhibiting at Life Instyle, Melbourne (30 July- 2 August, 2015)
