3 Fun DIY Photo Frame Projects

Before you throw out your old frames, check out these fun and easy craft ideas that will put them to good use!

To get started, take out the original picture that was in the frame. If the frame is looking dull and faded, brighten it up with a lick of fresh paint. A metallic colour could make it look new and expensive, whereas plain white or cream paint will have your frame looking fresh and ready to be used for these projects:

Necklace rack

All you need for this project are some cup hooks, which you can get from your local hardware store at a very affordable price. Metal, screw-in hooks are best. Simply fasten the hooks to the top of the frame and you'll have a creative way to store your favourite necklaces.

Wall decor

If you have a whole collection of frames at your disposal, you can use them all with this DIY. It looks best with a wide variety of shapes and sizes. It doesn't matter if your frames are all different colours, just paint them the same shade. This will add an element of cohesiveness. When they're dry, create a feature wall by hanging them in a cluster. It is a good idea to lay out your frames on a flat surface before you get hanging so you can see what the final product will look like and tweak it to be exactly how you want it.

Pin board

For a stylish way to keep all of your important notes and favourite photos together, grab your frame and try this project. You can buy a cheap cork board from your local stationary store and cut it down to size, or even buy tiles from a flooring store. For added impact, use masking tape and paint to create bold, graphic lines, or cover the cork with hessian cloth. Secure everything and get pinning!
