Lee Holmes is an Integrative Nutritionist and Whole Foods Chefs and the bestselling author and founder of superchargedfood.com. She is on a mission to help people expand their range of healthy food choices to create and maintain a satisfying, wholesome and nourishing diet.
She has an Advanced Certificate in Nutrition and is a Certified Health Coach (Institute of Integrative Nutrition), Hatha Yoga Teacher and Whole Foods Chef, and she is on a mission – to change the way we eat and alter the perception that cooking fresh, wholesome, nutrient-rich meals are difficult, complicated and time consuming.
However Lee’s story is not what you might expect. Passing up her former qualifications in food and nutrition, Lee worked for 15 years in high-level positions in the music and television industries before she was diagnosed with a crippling autoimmune disease in 2006. After embarking on a journey of self-discovery, travelling the world to discover foods which could be used to heal the body at a cellular level, Lee used food as medicine and successfully recovered. Her mind alive with ideas for new recipes, she wanted to share her creations and her website and www.superchargedfood.com was born.
Today her blog has become one of the leading health and lifestyle blogs in Australia, focused simply on making realistic and small changes every day. From posting recipes, her passion to share her story and help others has snowballed, recently taking home the overall prize at the Bupa Health Influencer Awards as well as the best blog in the Healthy Eating Category.
Her best-selling recipe book, also titled Supercharged Food was created to cater for anyone looking to overhaul their diet and increase their intake of fresh, wholesome and nutrient-rich foods as well as the growing number of people who suffer from auto immune disorders, Crohns and coeliac disease, IBS, ulcerative colitis, candida and food allergies and intolerances.
Today Lee appears regularly on Australian television and in publications both here and abroad such as The Times UK, The Daily Express Newspaper UK, Elle Magazine, Body and Soul, The Age, The Australian, Good Weekend, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Mind Food, Australian Good Taste, Vogue, Mind Body Green, Miranda Kerr’s Kora Organics Blog, Lifestyle Food (Yahoo) and Wellbeing magazine.
Lee’s passion for creating healthy eating has also led to lasting change at a policy level. In 2011, she challenged the then Minister for Health to live off hospital food for four days. The minister didn’t take her up on the challenge but as a result of the initiative she created a petition for change, the catalyst for the rollout of healthier menus across selected hospitals. Her latest mission is to tackle the growing childhood obesity epidemic with a brand new book Supercharged Food for Kids, aiming to encourage healthy eating and build stronger, healthier and brighter kids from the ground up.
