Alex Parsons

Presenter

Alex is passionate about empowering and educating Australians to make better and smarter financial decisions.

As the CEO of Australia’s leading financial comparison website RateCity, Alex Parsons helps thousands of Australians to make better and more educated financial decisions every day.

Alex’s passion and interest in helping to demystify financial matters together with his strong business acumen accrued from leadership roles at ninemsn, Sensis and eBay saw him land his current role as the CEO of RateCity, where his goal is to help Australians become smarter about their financial choices, and save time and money.

According to Alex, the single biggest mistake Australians make when it comes to their personal finances is having an apathetic approach to their income, savings and borrowing habits. He believes that by taking just a few minutes to assess their financial goals and commitments, most Australians could take back control of their finances, and save money along the way.

He also believes that being able to compare financial products on the internet has revolutionised personal finance and put the power in the hands of everyday customers.

To give an example of the types of savings Australians could be experiencing just by being more aware, Alex quotes home loans. He says that by moving from the average mortgage rate to the lowest mortgage rate with an average mortgage of $300,000, people could save around $1500 per year - where else can you save so much money without adjusting your lifestyle?

RateCity is Australia's leading financial comparison website powered by Canstar in partnership with mi9, and is where Australians can go to search, compare and apply for over 7,000 financial products from over 200 institutions.

Alex has a strong background in the finance and business sectors, having held senior leadership roles over the past 12 years in Australia and the UK.  Alex’s expertise has seen him grow businesses such as eBay and ninemsn into the leading positions they are today.
