In the heart of Darwin, The Ark Animal Hospital is refuge for the Top End’s injured wildlife. Whether scaled, feathered or furred, all are welcome. Beerwah in Queensland is home to Australia’s most extraordinary vet clinic. The Australian Wildlife Hospital is a non-stop, 24-hour, MASH-style emergency ward. Every day, manager Gail Gipp and senior vet Dr. Jon Hanger get calls to help a hundred or more animals, a quarter of which are koalas. However, the sad fact is that many do not survive - which makes every success story an important victory in the battle to save the koala species. Outback Wildlife Rescue features breathtaking scenery, colourful characters, dramatic rescues, thrilling crocodile patrols and heartfelt emotion as animals are saved and returned to the wild.
