About the show

This fly-on-the-wall documentary series observes the lives of the staff at the Princess Anne Hospital Maternity Unit in Southampton, who help patients through the joys and sorrows of becoming parents. Led by coordinator midwife Kay Duggan, the staff come across soon-to-be parents, each with a different story to tell. The patients shown include a 22 year-old woman experiencing labour with her first child, a 37 year-old expectant mother faced with complications to her unborn baby, a mother of five going into her sixth labour, twins born 17 weeks premature and a teenager who, much to the concern of her paramedic mother, is preparing for the birth of her first child.
