Don't Tell The Bride

About the show

Don’t Tell The Bride returns for a fifth series which is bigger, bolder and with more bridezillas than ever before. The concept is simple: young couples who are in love and broke are given the cash to pay for their wedding, with the condition that the groom organises every single aspect of the day himself. For three weeks he and his bride are separated while he chooses the venue, guests, cake and, most importantly, the wedding dress. The groom can get help from his best man, but are two men trying to organise a dream wedding any better than one? Will the relationship survive the strain? Will the groom succeed in pulling together the perfect wedding? And is his idea of perfection anywhere near hers?

Absolutley love this show im addicted!!! Must say i agree that it isnt really fair that some of the couples get special treatment, but it is the biggest day of your life and it usually only happens once. i think that its a bit harder when you have kids... they dont really get what is going on. Id hate for the time apart to affect my son, hes definitley a daddys boy

This is my nightly ritual show to watch. I absolutely love it! I'm a girl engaged to another girl and have been for a couple years. She looks like a boy, dresses like a boy and has a boy mentality. And since im yet to see a lesbian couple on there yet, it would be interesting lol she would be like a headless chicken running around and I am SO picky. I would apply For this right away if it came to Australia :)!

Just watched the Katy and Sam episode. I've watched loads of episodes and this is the first one ive been pissed off about. What an ungrateful b*tch! Not only did she text him while on the show and they meet up which they arent supposed to do as part of the contract but she complained about everything and got a new dress because she didn't like the (beautiful) one he picked. So ungrateful!!!

I can't afford to get married. My partner and I have been engaged for 11years and haven't been able to afford a wedding. I don't want it to be something cheap as it is a day of memories. I could tell you all my problems and reasons why but, please bring this show to Australia. It would be awesome just to have the opportunity.

It would make all my dreams come true if you were to bring your show to Australia. My fiance and i have been together for a beautiful 13yrs. We have got everything we need, house, and 2 georgous girls. With all the expences that come with haveing your own home and 2 children we just dont have the money to do the final step of getting marride. I love watching the show and get pretty scared when i think of my man planning my big day, but being together for so long i would like to belive that he knows what i like and would do a fantastic job if giveing me a wonderful day i could only dream of. So please come to Australia and help us make our dreams come true.:) tieing the knot.

    March 2011

Yes pleasse come to Australia - we want to get married but with all our debts and 3 little kiddies, have found it way to hard - even though I'm a perfectionist and control freak and would hate not to plan my wedding - especially not being able to pick out my dress and my finacee is not the best at planning things - it wouldn't matter (ok it would a bit) as long as we were able to actually get married !!

  • jessica brinckman

Please come to australia, my partner and i cant afford a wedding n watch dont tell the bride everynight

    March 2011

I would really love it if you could come to Australia, My family has booked hotel rooms and flights but my partner has made me cancel everything I booked due to no money! I don't care if he gets to plan it all but right now my wedding is going to be me, him his priest and 2 witnesses in my back yard and a 10 minute wedding..... I can't get married like that and no one is willing to help with costs..... grrr please come to australia!

Would love u to come to Australia. As I would love to marry my partner, but with six kids between us Money is a bit tight. My partner Di would love to see him put together a wedding.

  • helen webb
    February 2011

I would love to do this. I would have a great laugh at the wedding that my partner puts together. He thinks that these things just 'happen', so there is nothing to get stressed about. When we tried to organise a wedding he asked his mum to cook for 100 people (he forgot to mention that she would have to transport it 2 hours to my parents house in her economical yaris...)! We had to call it all off and leave it until some time in the future because we cant afford to get married unfortunately. I think he would freak out when he actually has to organise something. I have been doing everything for years, I even catch myself reminding him to eat. oh dear.
Anyway if you intend on doing this in Perth, Australia let us know!!

    March 2010

further to my last comment - today's episode March 22nd - Serena and Andy - the commentator says "if she doesnt like her dress she'll be going down the isle naked" ??????? Ok so Serena doesnt get special treatment then - or is it more like she wont stop the show if she doesnt get her own way !!!!!!!!!!! Again rules are rules so what are they? L. McD

  • Lyn McDonald
    March 2010

Lifestyle you's "Don't tell the Bride" today 17th March featured Katy and Sam. They were allowed to text and had contact as in a meeting during the imposed 4 weeks apart, Also Katy was allowed to choose another dress as she didnt like the one Sam picked. Sorry, but arent the rules that they are to have no contact and that the groom has to make all decisions, and that the bride has to go along with those decisions. Could you please explain the rules regarding this, as this all seems unfair to the brides who actually respect the rules. Thank You, L. McD

      June 2011

Ahhh I just commented on this myself! This annoyed me so much she is completely ungrateful!!!

    • Natalie
      April 2010

Yeah, I have to admit I thought the same thing. I guess the producers are just trying to be sensitive about the fact that a wedding is a huge day in someone's life, and in the end they want people (both the couple themselves and the audience) to be happy about how it goes. Personally I think it's nice that for once a reality show actually seems to care about the people it features.
I think I've seen the episode you're talking about. Isn't that the one where the girl was having problems with her family and freaking out about the wedding? I guess they were allowed to stretch the rules a bit since, after all, a wedding is really about starting a marriage, so any problems/ concerns need to be dealt with before entering into that.
Well, that's my theory, anyway. Anyone else hve any thoughts on how the rules of the show are applied the way they are?
