Freestyle Dance is the fastest growing dance craze in Britain. We follow three girls and their adoring mums as they prepare for and compete in a Freestyle Dance competition, which combines manic high energy routines with jaw dropping costumes and make up. Preparation for contests takes weeks and girls as young as six are spray-tanned, made up and kitted out with enough slap and bling to sink a battleship. At the sides of the dance floor, the competitors’ mums yell and whoop. At the heart of the Disco Diva Mums is the mother-daughter relationship – how ambitious can you be before you start being pushy, a dragon mum or just plain bonkers?
