I agree with your view that alternative energy can be more useful than nuclear energy. I am looking for more updates.

Hi Ty and Hailey, I presume you had someone helping you with the design of the house. Who were they and what role did they play in the process ? Cheers, Michelle

      Hi Michelle
Yes we did have an architect to do the design. His name is Alvyn Williams from Soft Loud House. I am not bad at design but having a local architect like Alvyn who took the time to understand our needs, dreams, the environment and the relationship between all the elements that make up a great home was invaluable. Having lived in the house now I can look back at our original brief and tick off every item that was on it wheather it was a physical element , a functional or the feeling we wanted to capture. If you are thinking of building I can recomend him highly as he was a pleasure to work with.If you want to contact him or see some of his other houses here is his website softloudhousearchitects-carbonneutral.com
      Cheers Tyrone

Hailey and Tyrone. I have just had a better look at your beautiful home on website. It is simply gorgeous, you both have excellent taste. Where did you source your industrial style sliding pantry doors? I have been looking every where for such a product. Congratulations on a beautiful home, you both look so happy. Kind regards Christine.

      Hi Christine
I designed and made the pantry doors and had some of the of the bits machined by my brother.I hated the idea of putting in bi fold doors which are a bit ugly and get in the way so I based the idea on the old style sliding barn doors. If you would like a bit more information you can contact me through my website www.tyronejaspers.com Regards Tyrone

hi what did you use to build your walls? you were able to get them up really quickly.

    • Tyrone jaspers
      November 2012

Hi Amy . We used polystyrene concrete forms by an Australian company called Formcraft . They are 2 sheets of polystyrene held together by plastic connectors and stack on top of each other. Once the walls are stacked, reinforcing steel is put in and the walls are braced. Then it is just a matter of filling the walls with concrete. It's very fast and great insulation which help us get our 7.5 star energy rating. Cheers Tyrone .

Congratulations to you both. It's sometimes a disaster in the making when the owner takes on a project of this scale but your meticulous approach ensured an amazing outcome. Congratulations - I hope you get to build many more homes for others some day.

My husband and I love the house especially the way it blends into the landscape not dominating it. We also love the colour you have chosen for the walls, can you please tell me what it is?

The exterior is a colour called smokey gum (grimmes paints in eltham). The interior is half strength fair bianca by dulux. Thanks for your comments. Tyrone Tyronejaspers.com

I love the rangehood. Anyone know who makes them?

    • Tyrone jaspers
      November 2012

Hi there we love the range hoods too! They are made by qasair. They are not cheap but they are so quiet when on full blast and even when we cook fish in the pan there is no lingering smell. We love em ! Tyrone and Hailey xx

I love the show hoever why is there not more footage on the interior rooms of the homes i.e. bathrooms etc?

Seems the focus has been on the exterior and main living areas.

Hi there , you can see more of our house on the video on the website. Trust me they film every room over 3 days but I think it just comes down to time in the end. Lets push for a longer show! Hailey and Ty
