Soggy Backyard

QuestionAsk Charlie

Hi, I would love to know what we can do about our backyard. The side of the house where we have space to create a grassy area for our children to play in is permanently wet. How do we go about creating drainage so that we can grow grass? We would love to have an area that would allow our kids to not be playing in mud. Our yard is not that big but if we could use this area it would make a huge difference to our lifestyle as a family. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Answer

I would talk to a landscaper or plumber as it sounds like you need to install some subsurface drainage. You need to install an ag-drain below the soil to divert the excess water. Charlie Albone Landscaping Expert
