Roller blinds

QuestionAsk Shaynna

Hi Shaynna, love your creativity! I wanted to ask advice on roller blinds. We are currenlty renovating a new house which has rather large windows, with really great water views. I plan to paint the walls in hogs bristle 1/4 strength and will proceed with double roller blinds, one shade being the see through sunscreen the other being the blockout to pull down during evening time. Initially I had planned to go for two light shades for both blinds although our blinds rep has advised that a light coloured sunscreen blind will hide the view, and that we should opt for a dark colour instead. I have looked at all the dark colours trying to match with our furniture. There is a see through midnight black colour which we could do for the suncreen shade and then I would match the hogs bristle wall shade for the front shade for evening. I have attached a photo of the feature lounge I have just purchased, and the fabric for the opposite lounge. I am really worried about having a black blind. It will be see through, although I would never of thought black blinds? Do you think it could work? I have a black marble bench top in the kitchen, and plan to paint the kitchen doors in hogs bristle half strength, so there would be some consistency as you walk through. Appreciate any advice. Thanks, Rosa

Answer

Hi Rosa the blinds are a tricky one colour wise but your blind rep is right - a white will cut out most of the view. The daylight coming through will counteract most of the black in the blinds so they wont seem so dark. If you do the top blind as you suggest it will work out. Sorry I cant be of more help Regards Shaynna Shaynna Blaze Interior Design Expert
