Lounge Room - Tiles or Carpet?
Answered Wednesday 1 February 2012 |Share:

Hi Shaynna,
I am about to renovate our investment property and need some help. At present the front door opens into the lounge room and has 9 little sqaure tiles and then the rest carpet, my suggestion is to have the lounge fully tiled and my husband disagrees and thinks that the lounge needs to be carpet, we both agree by having a tile pathway from the front door straight to the next room will make the lounge feel really small and what's there now seems silly. I would love your opinion, I am unble to supply a photo, but can send u a copy of the house plans if needed?
We have just given notice so we will need to make a decision within 8 weeks, any comments would be greatly appreciated!
Many Thanks,
Shannon Brown
Answer
Hi Shannon
why dont you look at floating floor? It gives more warmth than tiles and you means you can put a rug down in the lounge area and make it feel more inviting again.
If you are in northern NSW or QLD it is very common for tiles to be on the floor rather than carpet but further south it is way to cold.
I hope that helps!
