Answer

Hi Maree, Just to let you know that you are not alone when it comes to larger pores around the nose it is very common for people to get them around there. You seem to be doing all the right things. Exfoliating is a great way in keeping your pores clean, also make sure that you are performing a good cleansing routine too. You should be cleansing twice, twice in the morning and twice at night. The first cleanse will get rid of all the impurities and the second cleanse will ensure the skin is completely clean and also treat the skin. When you look at your makeup just make sure that you avoid ingredients like Mineral oil, Lanolin, S.D Alcohol, Artificial colours and Fragrances. Many make-up’s and skin care products actually contain what are called ‘comedogenic ingredients’ that are known and proved to clog the pores, commonly D & C coal tar dies found in loads of makeup are the culprit or Isopropyl myristate) which is often used to give make up a velvety feel and smooth spread ability. How to avoid this, simply ensure you only use products both make up and skin care that state they are non comedogenic, they are not hard to find there are now so many mineral based make up ranges. One product that I could recommend for you to help minimise the pores would be Dermalogica’s Clearing Mattifier, from their MediBac Line. This contains an ingredient called ‘Enantia bark (African whitewood)’ - Benefits: reduces sebum and has been proven to actually reduce the pore size. Regards Emma Emma Hobson Skin Expert
