Garden to lower suburban temperature

Answered Sunday 24 July 2011 |FacebookTwitter

QuestionAsk Charlie

Hi Charlie I live in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne & am planning on redoing our front garden. Initially I was going for the water saving plants/no lawn option. Now I've found that one of the biggest problems in our area is an increase in temperature due to lack of vegetation. Can you give me an idea of some plants which will cover all i need? Water saving whilst being leafy & able to be planted in a suburban block without disturbing pipes/overhead wires?

Answer

I have to say you must be living in the middle of a runway to get a noticeable raise in temperature due to a lack of vegetation .... I wonder where you heard this? Water saving plants would be a good option take a look at some californian sea grass plantings Charlie Albone Landscaping Expert
