Bamboo screen

Answered Tuesday 15 May 2012 |FacebookTwitter

QuestionAsk Charlie

The walls of our house (brick) that face west and north get no shade in summer and heat the house up quickly as there is no insulation in the walls. We live in north-western Sydney. I was wondering if we could use bamboo in long rectangle pots to create a screen during summer and then they could be moved to allow the sun in during winter. If so, any particular variety? Thanks

Answer

Bamboo will not be the best option as it will burn in the afternoon sun - try a native lilli pilli instead. If i were you i would install irrigation otherwise you will be watering every day Charlie Albone Landscaping Expert
