Steps:
- Firstly, sand the floorboards back to the original wood grain, through existing layers of lacquer and stains. You will need to either hire a sander or have the professionals do it for you. Vacuum thoroughly.
- Now it's time to apply the paint; we're going for a scuff and wear finish so we'll use an undercoat with a satin enamel top coat - the colour we've chosen is Whisper White. Use a paint roller for the most even finish. The undercoat will take 6-8 hours to dry.
- For the top coat, mix 90% paint with 10% turpentine to help the paint soak into the timber. After applying the satin enamel top coat it will need to be left to dry for 24 hours.
- When painting floorboards you'll need to leave your room open for airflow to help with drying, so it's ideal to do it in the warmer months with a low humidity.
